What is so good about professor Layton?

It is almost Christmas time and I am considering getting a Professor Layton game. I heard many times that it is the best game on the Ds. I never really played a puzzle game and I am curious about Professor Layton. So, what is so good about it and if it is worth getting, which one should I get.|||Professor Layton is an awesome game that absolutely oozes with charm! All three of the currently released games (the fourth one isn't yet out in the UK) have a gripping story and hundreds of brainteasers. The puzzles are great because they aren't just your run of the mill brain training kind of thing, each puzzle is clever and seems to tie in well with the story. For example, there's a puzzle where you are (SMALL SPOILER ALERT) challenged to a duel and you are offered an array of swords but only one of them is real!

The characters are also amazing. I don't think I've ever seen such a colourful cast in any video game... and they all have wondeful names like Rosetta Stone! Oh and the music is so beautiful too.

So basically, yeah, I would highly recommend this series, it's not just about puzzles either, the stories are so heart warming and you really get to know the characters.

As for a particular game to get, my personal favourite was the third game Lost Future (or Unwound Future in America) but having said that, I think that game would make much more of an impact if you played either Curious Village (game number one) or Pandora's/Diabollical box (second game) first in order to familliarise yourself with the characters. All games are good but you might want to start from the beginning, although I played the second game first for some bizarre reason...

In short, it's an all round feel- good kind of game with a great story, great puzzles and great soundtrack making it simply epic. When I first heard of the game I thought that the puzzles would just be annoyingly difficult but now I love the series because it's a game that basically anyone can play and enjoy, advanced gamer or casual gamer.
