The fourth game (the first of a prequel trilogy) will be released later this year (2011)

The fifth game will be released in English next year (2012) for the 3DS

The untitled sixth game (finishing the prequel trilogy) is currently in development for the 3DS but will probably not be released in English until 2013



A crossover game Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright is also in development for the 3DS



Whether there'll be more games or another trilogy is anyone's guess



There's also the movie Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva (released in the UK and scheduled for US release later this year) set between the fourth and fifth games



A second movie, set between the fifth and sixth games, is being written and there may also be a third movie (likely depending on the commercial sucess of the first two)



While the majority of players consider the third game (out of the first trilogy) to be their personal favourite, opinion remains divided as to which is the best, etc
